Initially the outline of The Deepings Green Walk is being developed through the Neighbourhood Planning process. We are currently in the process of finding out which organisations and individuals are able to contribute towards progressing this project and we are collating a Register of Support. As soon as this Register is available, a full Action Plan will be drawn up that includes specific activity by all interested parties.
Policy statements are incorporated into our Neighbourhood Plan and we expect them to be included in the SKDC Local Plan. These policies and guidelines provide direction for most future housing and other land development. The stages of implementation will be available on this website and we will be providing information on progress.
This is to be a collaborative project for community and commercial benefit. All helpful responses and contributions are invited.
To enable The Deepings Green walk to develop and integrate across the whole of the Deepings, it will be essential to obtain endorsement and long-term commitment from all organisations that have influence over how the land is allocated and conserved. The Deepings Neighbourhood Plan will establish consideration of The Deepings Green Walk as a planning factor for most new developments.
Developers will be asked to contribute on-site provision towards the Green Grid and/or off-site financial contributions towards implementation. Support is being obtained from South Kesteven District Council (SKDC), Market Deeping Town Council, Deeping St. James Parish Council, Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) and its Highways Department, the Environment Agency, Anglian Water and others. Support will also be essential from key local land owners and potential housing developers.
Achieving The Deepings Green Walk
Making progress with The Deepings Green Walk will require coordinated funding through a variety of sources and the detail of this will be specified within the Action Planning process. Largely, the key contributors will come through housing layouts that provide new sections of the Green Grid and Green Girdle. Funding will also arise through;
~ Financial contributions from developers towards community health, well-being, and related public Arts projects
~ LCC Local Transport Plan strategies, investment programmes, maintenance contracts, and SKDC planning processes
~ Town and Parish Council allocations of local funding for neighbourhood improvements
~ Local company sponsorship, donations, community fundraising, relevant grant funding, personal contributions and family bequests.
